Russia Needs To Develop Low-Tonnage Chemistry

State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Viktor Evtukhov discussed with the RHTU Rector Alexander Mazhuga the opening of the Mendeleev Engineering Center, the creation of the innovative scientific and technological center "Dolina Mendeleev" and the development of low-tonnage chemistry in Russia. The meeting was held in the Tushino complex RCTU.

The Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia examined the Russian-Swiss Training and Research Center for the Transfer of Pharmaceutical and Biotechnologies to the Municipal Technical University. In addition, Victor Evtukhov visited the commercial research laboratories, the reactor hall and the large synthetic laboratory of the Mendeleev Engineering Center. Its main task is the commercialization of university developments and the provision of services under the subprogram “Development of engineering and industrial design” of the joint state program of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia “Development of industry and improvement of its competitiveness”.

According to the deputy head of the ministry, active work is now being done on import substitution and ensuring the needs of the domestic market with chemical products. In connection with the tasks, the main activities of the IIC focus on radio and petrochemistry, fine organic synthesis, pharmaceuticals, polymer chemistry, the creation of new composite materials and low-tonnage chemistry. It is expected that Mendeleev Engineering Center will open in May this year.

Also, Viktor Evtukhov and Alexander Mazhuga discussed the creation of the Dolina Mendeleev innovative science and technology center. One of the activities of the center will be the creation of conditions and mechanisms for the formation and development of national low-tonnage and micro-tonnage chemistry.

We have a good situation with large-tonnage chemistry, but for the development of low-tonnage we need qualitatively new approaches - so that we can create new products with high added value that will be in demand at home and abroad

- noted the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia.
