A Promising Sphere Of Cooperation Between Russia And Spain Will Be Renewable Energy Sources

On February 27, 2018, as part of his working visit to Spain, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Georgy Kalamanov held talks with the High Representative of the Prime Minister for the "Spain brand" (in the rank of Secretary of State of the Spanish Foreign Ministry) Carlos Espinosa de los Monteros .

During the meeting, the Russian delegation held a presentation of the Russian application for the right to hold the World Expo in 2025 in the city of Yekaterinburg, the theme of which was "Transforming the world: innovations and a better life for future generations". The presentation was received with great interest.

In addition, in a conversation with Carlos Espinosa de los Monteros, the deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia noted that the Russian side highly appreciates the spirit of the Spanish leadership for the continuation of the traditions of active and trustful political dialogue between countries, which has a positive effect on the indicators of mutual trade.

According to the results of 2017 (according to the Federal Customs Service of Russia), Russian-Spanish trade increased by 20.6% compared to the same period in 2016, amounting to $ 5.3 billion

said Georgy Kalamanov.

Russian-Spanish cooperation in the field of industry, as designated by the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, goes beyond the scope of export-import operations. Thus, significant cooperation projects are being implemented in key industries, such as metallurgy, the production of auto components, light industry, power engineering and others.

During the talks, the Russian side confirmed its interest in promoting the Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft to the aviation market in Spain.

A promising area for joint work was also identified the scope of renewable energy sources.

At the moment, Russia is already implementing a number of localization projects, as well as upgrading existing facilities that produce equipment and components for the construction of generating facilities that operate on renewable energy sources. We are glad that the Spanish companies have already paid attention to this sphere and are actively involved in the implementation of projects in Russia. Thus, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (a joint company of German Siemens and Spanish Gameza) will become a partner of Enel Russia in implementing projects for the construction of two wind parks in Russia with a total installed capacity of 291 MW in the period 2018-2022. The total investment in the projects will be 405 million euros or 26 billion rubles

said Georgy Kalamanov.
